The artist with two of his favorite models
I began painting 10 years ago, it has become my passion. I began painting large realistic portraits and travel scenes and exotic people and settings under the guidance of an artist who did very realistic paintings in watercolor. I painted only in oil. I learned from many teachers and fellow painters, slowly my works have become more impressionistic and more colorful. I am always learning. A few years ago I started painting miniatures, mostly in plein air. (outdoors). Learning more about landscape has enabled me to do better protraits and travel scenes.
I travel extensively, often to unusual destinations. I love the color and honesty of these places. I have done series of paintings of my evcounters in Peru & Equador, Guatemala and Panama. I am working now on a series fo paintings of Vietnam. Many of my miniature landscapes are of the Monterey Bay area and the California countryside.
Awards and Recognition: I have won best of show and other awards in local and regional exhibits. I exhibit frequently at local association show and occasionly at museum shows. I have my work currently in several galleries. Showing work and selling paintings is a great form of encouragment and validation for my efforts. It is very satisfying to know that my works are hanging in the homes and offices, and that the owners get daily pleasure from my paintings. Owning a work of art provides neverending pleasure.
My work is in private collections in most U.S. states and Mexico and several European countries.
I love painting people, especially children. I do a limited number of commission portraits.
The only reason to own art is for the love of the work and the pleasure it gives.
